Are You a Meeting Planner or an Idea Curator?

I’m waiting for my iPhone 6 Plus with bated breath. And then, I will be even more saturated with the latest and greatest, the newest apps, the most comprehensive connectedness, at the fastest speed.

But, how do you know where to turn for the really great information? What are the tools and resources that are more than just fun gimmicks – the ones that help you think differently, see something new, and generate creativity?

If something connects with you, write it down, jot a note, use Pinterest. We have started our own Pinterest page, and you should check it out. And follow people and companies that inspire you. Sometime a picture IS worth 1,000 words.

It is the places that share ideas, and I mean good, digestible, and insightful ideas – not quick fixes. Friends and clients often ask me who the best new speakers are and when I let them know, it is usually those who create an “aha” moment. That’s why our website doesn’t only feature videos of speakers, it also highlights their thoughts and opinions, their books, and their perspectives on the world. I’d encourage more planners to think about not just getting a “name” speaker for their event, but their responsibility to introduce a new idea at their meeting.

Also, we go to a LOT of conferences and get a ton of ideas from exhibitors; both on how to create an engaging and interactive experience, as well as on what they are hearing in their markets. Use your exhibitors for not just what they are selling but also for what they are seeing.
