Not Just For Kids: How To Use Games At Your Meeting

sc

Our clients are always on the search for great ice-breakers to facilitate networking, get attendee energy up, and set the tone for a conference packed with fresh, exciting ideas. And there’s nothing like a little competitive spirit to bring out the best in your attendees.

We have worked with several clients to include fun games into their programming, and always hear the same thing: “I’m so glad we were willing to give that a try.” Here are a few ideas you can incorporate into your next event agenda:

1. “I Challenge You To A...”

Are you featuring an entertainment act, like a band or a DJ, at one of your next events? Get the audience involved with teams or individuals signing up to go head-to-head in a Lip Sync Battle or Dance-Off. Throw in some props and prizes to make the experience even more entertaining!

2. It Can Be As Easy As Game of Rock-Paper-Scissors

As an opening ice-breaker, the entire group participates in a single elimination competition of Rock, Paper, Scissors. Audience members choose an opponent and go head-to-head. The winner finds another winning opponent while the loser follows behind chanting the winner’s name. The competition progresses until there is one champion–and the entire room is cheering their name. It’s a seriously fun, and unifying, exercise.

3. Try Oversized Games For Oversized Kids

Place oversized games around the event space to create spaces to play, and network, throughout your event. The kid in your audience members won’t be able to resist trying their hand at oversized Jenga, Connect Four, Hopscotch, Checkers, or Tic Tac Toe. Plus, it’s a natural conversation starter that will compel your audiences to challenge each other to a friendly game. These game stations are perfect for branding and sponsorship opportunities, too!

4. Host A Game Show

Set up a mock game show on your General Session stage or as a part of a networking reception. Challenge individuals or teams by testing their knowledge of a mix of corporate culture, history, pop-culture questions, and more. This is sure to have your audience participating and cheering on their favorite team.
