Behind-The-Look: The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers Event Branding

Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers

At LAI Live, we are always up for a good challenge and that is exactly what came to us via our friends at The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM).

See how we embraced the theme and took on the challenge of combining politics and sports into a traditional meeting environment.

Know The Score

Having tapped into the colorful landscape of Phoenix for their previous event last year, they were concerned that their upcoming event in our nation’s capital would become dominated by traditional red, white, and blue branding.

With programming focused heavily on politics, they chose the theme, Know the Score, to focus on the grittier end of data, stats, and outcomes with subtle sports metaphors.

Hitting A Home Run With Event Programming

The brand identity for the meeting, its marketing, and live show graphics all needed to work together to combine DC imagery with artwork that communicated a fun sports vibe, while reflecting on the programming, audience engagements, and venue.

The logo was developed with a classic handwritten script and underline swoosh to mimic a team name on a baseball jersey, with a secondary thick serif typeface that borrowed from the feel of varsity jersey lettering.

Sliding Into Home With The Artwork

To mimic the effect of a t-shirt or jersey worn down while sliding into home and playing games over years and years—the artwork was given a worn textured look. White diamond container shapes were used to remind the viewer of baseball diamonds and running the bases.

The angles in the event artwork brand were borrowed from the corporate AHAM mark itself to further connect the viewer to the brand in a subtle way.

The final artwork was deployed and adapted across multiple marketing channels to spread the word and get attendees excited about the new experience.
